This picture was taken just a few minutes after Owen was born. He had a rough start and his color was still improving at this point, but we knew he was going to be okay. The nurses had to suction a whole lotta fluid out of his lungs because he decided to come out with the umbilical cord wrapped twice around his neck. They took him out into the hallway (where this picture was taken) and quickly got him breathing. They worked for a few more minutes, patting him hard on the back and forcing more fluid up. The whole time they were telling him they wanted to hear a good loud cry. That's what he's doing here and it was the sweetest sound in the world. (Hearing Owen cry continued to make dad feel slightly more relaxed for the rest of the day....until about 4am, anyway.)
